Koktebel is a resort town in the south-east of Crimea. The Uzun-Syrt Ridge limits Koktebel from the North, and Karadag – from the West. Steep, forested slopes protect the valley form winds. The owners, a family with four kids, had a dream about a house by the sea, to go there every summer. Hence, the heated area in the two-story house is not very big: only 150m². However, this allowed to have plenty of relaxation zones in the open air. There are a patio and a swimming pool adjoining the house. Inside there are a guestroom, connected to a dining hall, a kitchen, a hall and five bedrooms each with a bathroom. The house stands on a hill. The construction supporting the second floor was manufactured at a military plant. The building consists of two volumes. This helped to camouflage the unwanted view on the neighboring areas. Most of the bedrooms face the sea. All of them are designed like ship cabins. The only exception is the living room. Furniture for the room was designed by the architects. With the doors open the living room is transformed into a terrace. Panoramic glazing form floor to ceiling dissolves the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Apart from that the room is decorated with an unusual Focus fireplace (designed by Dominic Imber) suspended to the ceiling, separating the relaxation zone and the dining hall.
