Developing the design of the terminal, it was important for the architects to convey the peculiarities of the region – waviness of the local landscape, high banks of the Don River and reedy shallows, as well as the overwhelming feeling of warmth and abundance that everyone feels here. Right from the terminal entrance the visitors can see an unusual reception desk – shaped as a glowing ball. According to the authors’ idea, the ball symbolizes the setting sun reflected in the Don waters. To create the effect of radiance, the ball is surrounded with glass suspensions that generate tricks of light. The terminal faces the West, which reinforces the idea and contributes to its beautiful embodiment. The lounge has an elongated rectangular shape. Light-permeable partitions made of golden strings resembling thin sun rays were added to make the space look cozy, on the one hand, and not to block the windows, on the other. The fine golden grid on the walls echoes with the golden strings on the partitions. In second half of the day the surfaces reflect sun rays, filling the entire space with warm light.
